UUCD Community Outreach
UUs are sometimes referred to as the "Deeds, Not Creeds" denomination. Below are information and links about some of our community outreach and social action efforts:
Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen
We have four teams that prepare and serve a hot meal at the Dorothy Day Hospitality House on the first Saturday of every month. Volunteers also staff the “In From the Cold” program at the Soup Kitchen every Tuesday evening from November 15th to April 15th to keep the homeless from suffering outdoors until the shelters open at 9:00 pm

Morris Street School Project
The Morris Street School Project provides over a dozen volunteers for classroom assistance to teachers, for student mentoring and for a variety of special events. We also provide needed materials for the teachers and their classrooms and for the students in school and at home.

Turning Outward in Faith
We are successfully engaging with our local immigrant community and in 2008 became the first congregation in Connecticut to join the New Sanctuary movement. We have gained their trust and provided support through a weekly food offering, the ARC Food Pantry and weekly hospitality to day laborers in Kennedy Park.
