3rd-5th Grade - 9:00 a.m.

 Beginning Sept. 18th 2011 at 9:00 AM

 4th & 5th Grade

Curriculum: "Windows and Mirrors" by Gabrielle Farrel, Natalie Fenimore, Dr. Jenice View, part of Tapestry of Faith, Unitarian Universalist Association.

"Mirrors in which they can see themselves,
windows in which they can see the world."
~ Lucille Clifton, African American poet, writer and educator

This program teaches that there are always multiple viewpoints and everyone's viewpoints matter.  It offers practice for identifying and acting respectfully, and responsibly, toward all.  The session structure guides participants to experience and discuss a variety of social justice issues that inform their world (for example: priveledge, racism, and the value of different kinds of work).

Over the course of the year, the children will create Window/Mirror panels. The Mirror reflects the inner, individual child and the Window reflects their views and connections beyond themselves with the greater comminities in which they belong.
