Coming of Age/Owl

Coming of Age will be offered to any 9th graders who wish to participate.  Please contact the Director of Religious Education about our offering this program in the Spring of 2012.

The goal is to celebrate a youth's coming of age.  We offer time to define what they believe in light of their experiences here and in the world.

The youth will spend time with the minister (tentative dates are: Feb. 12th, March 4th, March 18th, April 1st - exact time to be determined)

A trip to Boston with the Minister is tentatively scheduled Friday, May 11th-Sat. May 12th 2011 and it is often a memorable culmination.

Each youth is asked to write their credo statement for presentation at a service.

NOTE: The "OWL" described below is offered periodically - we are working to join forces with Unitarian Universalist Congregations in Mt. Kisco and Mohegan Lake, NY to offer Junior High OWL in 2011-12.  We will offer Senior High OWL in Danbury starting Fall of 2011 on one Sunday a month - Look in your child's age range for details.

Our Whole Lives (OWL) for youth, reinforces safety information and explores relationship skills needed in light of our values of respect, caring, and education around the topic of human sexuality.

A 10 week program for Senior High Youth (was offered first Sundays of the month from Oct. 2008-June 2009)and a full year program has been offered for 7th-9th graders also that year

A Parent Orientation is required before youth may attend.

The group closes after the 2nd session.

We have also in the past offered an age appropriate 8 session program for K-1st graders.  It help parents and children with the vocabulary and positive attitudes about our amazing bodies.  Helps explain "Where do Babies come from?"
